School Visits & Workshops

Bringing stories of nature, empathy, and imagination into the classroom.

“I was really inspired to try some of the new books Julia recommended.”

“Julia gave some really good recommendations of books we should try.”

“I am going to read The Boy With The Butterfly Mind thanks to Julia’s suggestion.”

“Julia’s cartoons made reading books fun and her workshop has encouraged me to read more in the future.”

I love helping pupils discover the joy of reading and the magic of nature through stories. My school visits and workshops bring imagination, ecology and empathy together — showing how stories can open minds and inspire change.

What I Offer
I visit primary and secondary schools to deliver workshops, assemblies and creative sessions on themes such as Reading and Nature and Reading and Empathy.
Each session is interactive, inclusive, and can be tailored to your school’s needs — whether that’s a single class, a full-year group, or a library club.

Workshops are available in person or virtually, and are ideal for class groups, reading clubs and book festivals.

A Typical Visit Might Include

A lively talk about the inspiration behind The Lost Dragonflies and The Songbird Army

Book readings and Q&A

A creative writing activity exploring nature, character and imagination

Recommendations to keep pupils reading long after the session

Who I Work With

Book festivals and reading clubs

Every visit aims to leave children more curious, confident and connected — to stories, to nature, and to each other

Book Sales
Wherever possible, I love to work with a local independent bookshop to arrange signed copies for pupils.
Pre-orders and on-the-day sales can be organised easily in advance — a lovely way for children to take the stories home and keep reading.

If you’d like to bring a bit of storytelling magic to your classroom, library or festival, I’d love to hear from you.
