About Me!
I grew up on a farm in Somerset where I spent my formative years damming streams, riding ponies, losing my wellies in the bog and making tree houses.

I write nature-filled adventure stories that celebrate the wild — and explore how courage, curiosity and compassion can change the world.
My children's books include The Lost Dragonflies and The Songbird Choir Series (Root & Branch), and my work has been long-listed for the Times / Chicken House Prize for Children's Fiction. I'm currently working on a new middle grade adventure set in the depths of the Somerset hills, centred on a retirement sanctuary for performing animals.
I also write fiction for adults. My debut novel, The House on Riverside Lane (Joffe Books), is available internationally and became an unlikely bestseller in Australia — which delights me enormously.
Before becoming a full-time author, I ran my own PR company for ten years, with Ladybird Books among my favourite clients, and reviewed books for BBC Radio Berkshire (I still love doing radio).
I regularly visit schools and libraries to spark young imaginations and encourage children to discover the wonder waiting just beyond their doorstep. The themes closest to my heart — nature, empathy, resilience, kindness — are ones I live by too. For over twenty years I've volunteered as a mental health listener, and I hope that experience finds its way into every story I tell.
When I'm not writing or in a classroom, I'm a mum of five, navigating fabulous family chaos — usually with Muttley at my heels, a football at my toes, and a new story brewing somewhere in the
back of my mind.
